While keeping the plot under wraps, an insider described the upcoming sequel as, “It’s like, it’s very cool. It’s very exciting.”
Addressing the movie’s delay, Robert reflected on how time has flown, stating, “Everything feels so long ago because COVID erased three years ago.” Warner Bros. has officially pushed the film’s release from October 2, 2026, to October 1, 2027.
Director Matt Reeves previously told Deadline at the Golden Globes that filming would commence in 2025. Meanwhile, Andy Serkis, who played Alfred in The Batman, shared his enthusiasm at Orlando’s MegaCon, saying, “I am as hungry for it as you all are. Matt told me the story of The Batman 2, and I was so excited for it.”
Matt Reeves also teased fans about the sequel, stating, “We’re doing something that continues where the story came from and something I hope people are really surprised by.”
The first film earned $800M at the box office and received three Oscar nominations. Meanwhile, Robert will next start filming Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey movie.
