US President Donald Trump has said that ongoing negotiations with Iran are moving forward in an organized and constructive manner, but stressed that there will be no rush in finalizing any agreement.
In a statement shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said both sides must handle the matter carefully and correctly, adding that there is no room for mistakes in such an important process.
According to Trump, he has instructed all his representatives not to rush into any possible agreement with Iran. He said sanctions on Iran will remain in place until a deal is fully finalized, verified, and officially signed.
US president also repeated Washington’s position that Iran must never obtain or develop nuclear weapons. He added that relations between the United States and Iran are now moving in a more professional and productive direction compared to the past.
Trump criticized former US President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, calling it one of the worst agreements made by the United States and claiming it opened the way for Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
He said the current proposed deal would be completely different and much stricter and more effective than the previous agreement.
Trump also thanked Middle Eastern countries for their support in US-Iran talks, saying regional cooperation is increasing and progress in the Abraham Accords could help bring stability to the region.
He further said that if Iran eventually becomes part of the agreement, it would be a major development, adding that such a possibility could become reality in the future.
