Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent address in the Lok Sabha regarding the controversial 'Operation Sindoor' has drawn sharp criticism from global media outlets, with many labeling it as a deliberate attempt to mask the operation’s failure through misinformation and exaggerated claims.
During his speech, Modi asserted that no world leader had asked India to halt the operation. He claimed that on the night of May 9, the U.S. Vice President repeatedly warned him of a potential large-scale attack from Pakistan. Modi further stated that India neutralized Pakistan’s capabilities in response to this threat and vowed that any future aggression would be met with an "unpredictable" Indian response.
Modi also insisted that Operation Sindoor was still ongoing and issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that any similar misstep in the future would provoke India to go to “any extent.”
However, these statements contradict several internationally reported facts. Major American media outlets, including The Washington Post and The New York Times, reported that Pakistan effectively countered India’s aggression by downing Indian fighter jets within Indian territory.
BBC Regional Editor Amberson Athar Jan also acknowledged Pakistan's defensive superiority and highlighted shortcomings in India’s military strategy.
Supporting this, Indian Air Force officer Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that key Indian airbases—Udhampur, Adampur, Bhuj, and Pathankot—suffered significant damage during Pakistani strikes. Moreover, Indian sources indicated that a ceasefire was announced through Colonel Sophia, effectively halting the operation.
