Iran has suspended all domestic and international flights across the country until further notice due to security concerns after Israeli airstrikes overnight. The Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company said this suspension applies to every airport in the country and was ordered by the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran.
This move follows Israeli airstrikes that raised tensions in the region and led Iranian officials to take safety steps, especially to protect people travelling by air. Aviation authorities said all flight operations are now on hold, and people should not go to airports during this time. There is no information yet about when flights will start again.
Meanwhile, Israeli military operations inside Iran are still ongoing. Several explosions and air defense activities have been reported in Tehran and other key areas, according to foreign media and Iranian sources. Sources reported that loud blasts were heard across Tehran, and the city’s air defense systems were activated to try to stop incoming missiles.
Visuals and local reports showed a radar site in the Vardavard area of western Tehran was hit. Other radar sites in Abdanan, southern Iran, may have also been attacked. Iran’s news agency said rescue teams were sent to the Hakimiyya area in eastern Tehran after loud explosions. People nearby said they saw emergency vehicles and heard sirens late into the night.
Security officials also confirmed a major explosion in the Mehrabad area of Tehran, where an attempt was made to hit the city’s international airport. Videos shared online showed smoke and fire, but officials denied any damage to the nearby Azadi Tower, a well-known landmark.
