At least 28 people were killed across Lebanon on Friday as a result of fresh Israeli airstrikes, according to the Health Ministry and the state-run National News Agency (NNA).
In the city of Nabatieh, heavy strikes hit areas near a government complex and a State Security office, causing major destruction and killing the security personnel. Lebanon’s State Security agency is responsible for internal intelligence, countering threats such as espionage and terrorism, and safeguarding senior officials.
Elsewhere in southern Lebanon, two people were killed in a drone strike in Deir Qanoun Ras al-Ain. Additional attacks resulted in casualties across several towns: one person was killed and another injured in Qana, while a separate strike in Hanouiyeh left one dead and one wounded.
In Kfar Tebnint, a municipal official, Ali Abdul Latif Ghaith, was killed when a drone struck a building, injuring his son.
Two more people were killed and another injured in Sohmor. A civilian riding a motorcycle was also killed in a drone strike near the Al-Mahdi Schools junction in Al-Sharqiyah.
In Jbaa, six people lost their lives in an airstrike, while another person was killed in Ansar, located in the Bekaa region.
Additionally, several paramedics were injured when a medical point and an ambulance were targeted in Frida, within the town of Adshit, although the exact number of injured was not specified.
These developments come amid heightened regional tensions. Donald Trump recently announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran, stating that Tehran had presented a “workable” 10-point proposal for negotiations.
Despite a ceasefire that began in November 2024, Israel has intensified its military operations in southern Lebanon following a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.
