Ihsan, who is 21 years old, left a strong impression in the previous year’s Pakistan Super League with his speed. He also played in three T20 matches against Afghanistan in Sharjah and two ODIs against New Zealand at home.
Unfortunately, after the series with New Zealand, he suffered an elbow injury and was unable to participate in subsequent events, including the Asia Cup and World Cup.
Sadly, a misdiagnosis of his injury and a botched surgery in Lahore have prevented him from fully recovering.
According to a report in the Press Trust of India, the initial diagnosis was made by a senior doctor on the board’s medical panel, which resulted in wasted time trying to rehabilitate him without surgery.
After a failed surgery at a private hospital in Lahore, doctors from his PSL franchise, Multan Sultan, determined that he needed to see a specialist in the UK for his treatment.
Ali Tareen, the owner of the franchise, has received permission from the PCB to send Ehsan to London for further consultation. However, this has angered Naqvi, who believes that it was the duty of the board officials and medical panel to properly care for the fast bowler.
“Mohsin Naqvi is very upset after this incident came out in the open and he came to know about it. Chances are that some of the officials responsible for supervising Ehsan’s treatment will find themselves out of jobs very soon,” the source said.
Ehsan had made a strong impression with his speed against Afghanistan in Sharjah, taking six wickets in three matches while conceding very few runs.
