Actress Sonia Hussyn revealed in a recent video statement that she had attempted to take responsibility for Humaira’s last rites and reached out to the police. However, the police informed her that only blood relatives could claim a deceased person’s body, and that Humaira’s brother and brother-in-law were on their way to Karachi for that purpose.
Sonia also shared that industry members had created a special WhatsApp group the night before. This group includes actors, makeup artists, technical crew, and especially women who live away from their families. The aim is to stay in touch, check on each other, and prevent such tragedies from repeating.

She further mentioned that veteran actress Rubina Ashraf personally reached out to offer full support in this initiative. Actor Yasir Hussyn also reached out to her, and the industry organization Artists Collective Trust (ACT) is actively participating as well.
However, Sonia stressed that the industry cannot rely on one organization alone to safeguard everyone. “It’s time we all take responsibility on an individual level,” she said. “Caring for our parents and siblings is already a duty, but checking in on our neighbors, friends, and colleagues is just as essential.”
She urged people to regularly ask those around them if they’re in need, whether it’s food, medical help, or emotional support. ““If each of us actively looks after just five people,” Sonia said, “we can help prevent tragedies like this in the future.”
The incident has become a powerful reminder: In a city full of people, no one should ever die alone and unnoticed.
