Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has refused to grant interim relief to K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi, who is facing a workplace harassment case. The decision came on Tuesday following a formal request by Alvi’s legal team.
According to a press release from the Governor’s House, a full hearing of the case — Moonis Alvi vs. Mahreen Aziz Khan — will take place on Monday, August 11, 2025. The court will give both sides a chance to present their arguments.
Ayaan Memon, Moonis Alvi’s lawyer, confirmed that the court postponed the hearing after the complainant’s legal team requested more time, citing an incomplete case file. “The court has made no decision — it has only adjourned the case,” Memon stated.
The case stems from a decision made on July 31, 2025, by the Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh, Justice (R) Shah Nawaz Tariq. The Ombudsman found Alvi guilty of workplace harassment following an investigation and ordered his removal as CEO of K-Electric. He also fined him Rs 2.5 million.
Alvi had asked the Governor to suspend this decision, but the Governor declined, saying that the matter must follow due process.
The complainant, Mahreen Aziz Khan — a former Chief Marketing Officer at K-Electric — welcomed the Governor’s stance. Her legal team stated that justice should be transparent and fair.
Mahreen filed the harassment complaint after working with K-Electric as a consultant in 2019. The Ombudsman reviewed the case and ruled in her favor, saying she had proven the allegations.
Alvi was given one month to pay the fine. If he fails to comply, the authorities may seize his assets and block his national ID card and passport.
This case continues to attract public attention, and the outcome will now depend on the full hearing scheduled for August 11.
