Security forces conducted multiple intelligence-based operations in three districts of Balochistan, killing at least 13 militants allegedly backed by India. Two soldiers sustained injuries during the fierce exchanges of fire but are said to be out of danger.
According to ISPR, the operations began late Tuesday night after intelligence agencies confirmed the presence of a terrorist formation in the mountainous region of Ghazaband. The group was reportedly linked to banned outfits and involved in several past terrorist attacks.
Joint teams of Frontier Corps (FC), Pakistan Army, and other law enforcement agencies surrounded the area. The terrorists opened heavy fire, sparking a gun battle that lasted nearly two hours. Ten militants were killed on the spot, many of whom were later identified as wanted in previous attacks.
Bodies of the militants were shifted from the site, while their blood samples and fingerprints were collected for further investigation.
Two security personnel sustained gunshot wounds during the clash and were shifted to a military hospital in Quetta, where doctors confirmed their condition was stable. No civilian casualties were reported as the area remained sealed throughout the operation.
Recovered weapons included AK-47 rifles, grenades, rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, and large quantities of ammunition, which officials said were meant for future attacks.
In separate operations in Zhob and Sherani districts, security forces engaged militants in another heavy exchange of fire, killing eight members of the outlawed group Fitanat-ul-Khawarij.
