The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for the repeal of the 26th constitutional amendment, terming it controversial.
During a press conference in Islamabad, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan emphasized the need for rule of law and stated that PTI never promoted incitement.
He also claimed that PTI’s mandate was stolen in the general elections, and its seats in Karachi were unfairly given to the PPP and MQM-P. Despite this, he said, PTI remained open to negotiations.
"A system cannot function if political opponents continue to undermine each other," he added.
Meanwhile, Awam Pakistan Party (APP) chief Shahid Khaqan Abbasi criticized the government, saying that attempts to suppress opposition voices reflect government weakness.
Former finance minister Miftah Ismail also commented, saying that the government's actions prove there is no true supremacy of law in the country.
He urged the ruling parties to focus on unity instead of just seeking power.
