A new monsoon rain spell is expected to impact the entire country as a new system of winds from the Bay of Bengal moves into Pakistan.
These winds, arriving today and tomorrow, may bring thunderstorms and rainfall to the upper regions, with chances of rain in Punjab, Balochistan, and interior Sindh as well.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh advisory, cautioning about the risk of landslides in mountainous areas.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), heavy rainfall is forecasted for Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, South and North Waziristan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan, with potential landslides in upper districts and risks of flooding and urban flooding in the central plains.
In response to these weather conditions, the PDMA has alerted all district administrations and instructed them to ensure the readiness of both small and large machinery.
Meanwhile, Cyclone Asna has shifted 370 kilometers away from Gwadar.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued the tenth alert for the tropical cyclone, which is currently positioned in the northwestern Arabian Sea.
Due to this, fishermen in Balochistan have been advised to avoid deep-sea fishing.
Conversely, fishermen in Sindh are allowed to venture out to sea, while in Karachi, the rain has severely impacted the sewerage system and roads, causing potholes in various areas. Rainwater and sewage are still present on the roads.
