Torrential rains and severe weather in Karachi have caused major disruptions to mobile and internet services, creating significant problems for residents.
With power outages affecting nearly half of the city and damaging mobile towers, citizens are struggling to stay connected through calls and internet services. Prolonged electricity cuts have drained the generators of several towers, shutting down mobile signals in many areas.
Flooded streets have also blocked diesel supply routes, preventing fuel delivery to mobile tower generators and worsening the service outage.
As mobile services failed, many people stranded in different parts of the city were unable to contact their families. Those stuck in traffic jams could not reach out for help, while mobile internet disruption affected online ride-hailing services for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, hampering daily activities.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in Karachi, warning that mobile and internet services may face further difficulties. Citizens have been advised to take precautions and arrange alternative means of communication to meet essential needs.
