Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced on Thursday that students from other provinces would now be included in the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
During a meeting in Lahore, chaired by CM Maryam, key decisions were made, including the approval of the Hunarhar Scholarship for second, third, and fourth-year students, the organization of a one-day Vice-Chancellor Conference, and a Tech Expo.
She instructed the establishment of a dedicated helpline for scholarship-related queries.
Furthermore, CM Maryam increased the number of laptops for students to 110,000, emphasizing that education and youth are the true assets of the nation. “I wish every child could have a laptop," she expressed.
She asserted that providing scholarships and laptops is both the right of students and the government’s responsibility.
Highlighting inclusivity, she stated that students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are equally important.
“I think like a mother and want to change the future of every child. Any student meeting merit criteria should apply to a good college, and the government will cover their fees,” she affirmed.
CM Maryam also reiterated the need for a dedicated helpline to assist students under the scholarship and laptop scheme.
Additionally, Punjab has set a minimum eligibility criterion of 65% marks for students to qualify for a laptop.
