Lahore: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has approved key initiatives for the welfare of workers.
A special meeting, chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz, was attended by Provincial Minister for Labour Faisal Ayub Khokhar and other officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed authorities to ensure the implementation of the minimum wage across Punjab. She emphasized, "Ensure a minimum monthly wage of Rs. 37,000 for workers in Punjab."
Maryam Nawaz also called for a plan to establish labor colonies across the province and ordered the revamping of social security hospitals.
It was further revealed in the meeting that Maryam Nawaz Sharif Wellness Centers will be set up in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad for pre-screening, where patients will be referred to major hospitals after initial check-ups.
During the meeting, principle approval was granted for the construction of a 200-bed Rehmat-ul-Lil-Alameen Cardiology Center on Lahore's Defence Road and a new 50-bed Social Security Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also directed amendments to labor laws for the welfare of workers. She stated, "Workers are friends of Allah, and we cannot afford to displease them."
She reaffirmed her commitment to making Punjab a model province for labor welfare, emphasizing, "Ensuring fair wages, healthcare, better employment opportunities, and housing for workers is the government's responsibility."
Maryam Nawaz further stressed, "No worker should go to bed hungry or suffer hardship. We are providing better educational opportunities for their children to pursue higher education."
