As the monsoon season continues to sweep across Pakistan, Karachi is bracing for light to moderate rainfall within the next 24 hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The city’s temperature is expected to climb to 32°C, with a mild 10-kilometer-per-hour breeze blowing in from the west. Currently, Karachi’s humidity levels are high at 89%, while the minimum temperature recorded stands at 27.5°C.
Recent light showers in Karachi have provided much-needed relief to residents who faced extreme heat last month.
Weather expert Jawad Memon highlighted that the light rain is likely due to cloud cover, with a possibility of moderate rain in some areas. He also mentioned that a gentle sea breeze is blowing, and rain is expected in the northeastern parts of Karachi after midday.
Beyond Karachi, the PMD has forecasted rainfall in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various regions of Punjab from Wednesday through August 18.
Areas such as Murree, Galyat, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Gujranwala are expected to experience rain accompanied by strong winds. Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Sheikhupura are also likely to see showers during this period.
Additionally, the Met Office noted that the coastal areas of Sindh might experience a partly cloudy atmosphere with chances of light rain. This weather pattern is anticipated to continue, offering relief to many regions across the country.
The ongoing showers are a welcome change, bringing down temperatures and providing respite from the intense summer heat experienced over the past months.
