LAHORE: After winning their respective seats as independent candidates in the February 8 elections, five individuals have decided to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party.
The individuals who have joined PML-N include Sardar Shamsher Mazari (NA-189), Imran Akram (PP-195), Sohail Khan (PP-240), Khizar Hussain Mazari (PP-297), and Sahibzada Muhammad Gazain Abbasi (PP-249).
PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the newly-elected members into the party, expressing the party's commitment to serving the people and addressing the challenges facing the country.
He emphasized PML-N's dedication to bringing prosperity to Pakistan and mentioned the party's efforts towards forming governments in both the center and Punjab.
The party has been engaged in negotiations with other political parties, including the Pakistan People’s Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, presumably to explore potential alliances and cooperation in government formation processes.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) took action regarding the results of three National Assembly constituencies in Islamabad, namely NA-46, NA-47, and NA-48, where PML-N candidates were initially declared victorious according to unofficial results.
In NA-46, the ECP restrained the Returning Officer from issuing the final notification of the result due to a challenge raised by independent candidate Rao Masood regarding the Form 47 of the constituency’s result. Unofficially, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s candidate Anjum Aqeel Khan was declared the winner, with PTI-supported independent candidate Amir Masood securing the runner-up position.
Similarly, in NA-47, PML-N’s Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was declared successful, while the PTI-supported rival Shoaib Shaheen was the runner-up.
In NA-48, an independent candidate Raja Khurram Shehzad was initially declared successful, with PTI-supported rival Syed Muhammad Ali Bukhari coming in second. Notably, Raja Khurram Shehzad announced his intention to join PML-N after winning the election.
These actions by the ECP indicate a scrutiny process over the election results, ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process by addressing challenges and discrepancies raised by various candidates.
