RAWALPINDI: Special Central Judge Shahrukh Arjumand on Friday ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana-II case.
The court noted that Imran Khan’s bail had been granted by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and confirmed that he was not wanted in any other case, paving the way for his release.
The surety bonds, worth Rs1 million each, were submitted by Tariq Noon and Raja Ghulam Sajjad. Imran Khan had secured bail in the case on November 20, with the IHC approving his release against two surety bonds of Rs1 million each.
Earlier, on November 14, the acquittal pleas of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana-II case were rejected. Special Central Judge Shahrukh Arjumand delivered the reserved verdict, denying their requests for acquittal.
Following his bail in the Toshakhana-II case, Imran Khan was subsequently arrested in connection with the New Town police station case.
He was handed over to the police on a five-day physical remand. Although the prosecution had sought a 15-day remand, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge approved a five-day remand and directed the police to continue their investigation within the jail premises.
