Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that every child should go to school in order to get education.
In her speech at Anatolia Diplomacy Forum in Turkiye, she proposed to form a global agreement for girls’ education.
Suggestions were made for joint efforts in education, including shared policies, teaching methods, and ways to promote learning.
The chief minister invited leading universities from Turkiye to open campuses in Punjab.
In her speech, Maryam Nawaz encouraged Turkish institutions to set up major youth centers in the province.
She said that by working together and launching exchange programs with Turkiye, both sides can build a brighter future.
Maryam Nawaz also praised the Anatolian Diplomacy Forum, calling it a positive step under the leadership of the Turkish first lady.
She said the forum is a strong example of women’s leadership in action.
“We are recruiting about 30,000 new school teachers entirely on merit, reviving regular appointments that have been stalled in Punjab for years,” she said.
For the first time, we have established a dedicated teacher training and curriculum development institution with continuous professional development programs aligned to the 21st century learning goals, she added.
According to Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government is establishing Pakistan’s first internet city that would be named after Nawaz Sharif.
Maryam Nawaz announced that Pakistan’s first dedicated university for Artificial Intelligence will soon be set up in Lahore.
She said the Punjab government has launched a scholarship program for students, with 50% of the scholarships awarded to girls. All the scholarships, she added, are being given to students who truly need them.
Maryam also spoke about the struggles of Palestinian girls facing Israeli violence, and paid tribute to girls in Afghanistan and Kashmir.
“The Afghan girls are banned from going to school. Kashmiri children are fighting to break free from oppression. Sudanese refugees are walking miles just to find food,” she said, honoring their courage.
She added that Punjab will stand up and speak for girls who have no voice. Maryam Nawaz became a key figure at the international forum, drawing significant attention.
The world leaders lauded the initiatives of Maryam Nawaz in the education and health sectors.
The delegates appreciated the vision of Maryam Nawaz and called her speech very inspiring.
