The Islamabad High Court has suspended a notification issued by the National Highway Authority (NHA) regarding the imposition of an additional 50% toll charge on vehicles without an active M-Tag or with insufficient balance.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir issued a two-page written order after hearing the petition. The court directed the NHA to stop collecting extra toll fees until further instructions are issued.

The petition was filed by Advocate Jalal Haider, who argued that the NHA does not have legal authority to impose a 50% surcharge based on the absence of an M-Tag or low account balance.

Following the hearing, the court issued notices to the NHA and other relevant parties, directing them to submit written responses by Aug. 3.

In its interim order, the court made it clear that the NHA will not be allowed to continue charging additional tolls until the case is further reviewed.
