Three new passport offices have opened in Lahore at NADRA mega centers in Sandah, Peco Road, and Shimla Pahari.
This project, overseen by the NADRA chairman and passport director general, has been praised by the public as it improves the passport application process.
Lahore previously had five passport offices in Shahdara, Quaid-e-Azam Interchange, Raiwind, and Garden Town. With the addition of the three new offices, the total number now stands at eight. This will help reduce the pressure on the existing offices and make it easier for people to apply for passports.
Working hours: Shimla Pahari office operates 24 hours, while the Sandah and Peco Road offices remain open until 10pm.
Integrated services: These centers now offer both identity card and passport services under one roof. Citizens have expressed their satisfaction, highlighting the ease of accessing multiple services at one location. "This is a great initiative; it saves time and makes the process more efficient," said one applicant.
The new passport offices in Lahore were set up under the direction of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to meet the rising demand for passport services in the city.
In addition, the Directorate of Immigration and Passports has expanded its fast-track passport service to 26 more cities in Pakistan, bringing the total to 47 cities. A notification has been issued regarding this expansion.
Previously, the fast-track service was only available in major cities like Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta. Now, it will be available in several other areas to make it more convenient for people.
Residents of towns such as Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mianwali, and Bhakkar can now access this quicker passport service. The expansion also includes cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa like Kohat, Swabi, Swat, DI Khan, Bannu, Hangu, Abbottabad, and Haripur. Furthermore, the service is now available in key cities of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Bagh, Kotli, and Rawalakot.
