WASHINGTON: A bid to impeach US President Donald Trump over his actions toward Iran has failed in the House of Representatives.
The impeachment resolution, introduced by Democratic Congressman Al Green, accused President Trump of misusing his executive powers by pushing the United States toward war with Iran without congressional approval.
However, the resolution failed to gain enough support, even within the Democratic Party. While many Democrats criticized Trump’s approach toward Iran, the majority refrained from backing the impeachment move.
The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly rejected an impeachment resolution against President Donald Trump, with 344 votes against and only 79 in favor.
The resolution, brought forward by Democratic Congressman Al Green, accused Trump of abusing his presidential powers by unilaterally steering the country toward war with Iran, without seeking Congressional approval.
Significantly, 128 Democratic lawmakers joined Republicans in voting against the motion, preventing it from advancing to a formal debate or vote.
While introducing the resolution, Congressman Green emphasized that his intention was not driven by personal satisfaction. “It gives me no pleasure to take this step,” he said. “But no single person should have the unchecked power to lead 300 million people into war. Congress must authorize such actions.”
He added, “This is a defining moment. Either the Constitution will continue to carry meaning—or it will become meaningless.”
The failed attempt reflects the internal divisions among Democrats on the strategy to challenge President Trump’s foreign policy and underscores the difficulty of pursuing impeachment in a politically polarized environment.

Meanwhile, President Trump lashed out at Democratic lawmakers who have supported impeachment efforts against him, particularly Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He called her "stupid" and "the dumbest member of Congress," even going as far as to call her a "little mouse."
Trump also took aim at other Democratic representatives, including Jasmine Crockett and Ilhan Omar, as tensions over foreign policy and presidential authority escalated.
