Two policemen martyred in Lakki Marwat gun attack

LAKKI MARWAT: At least two police personnel were martyred on Tuesday when unidentified gunmen opened fire in the Machan Khel Adda area of Lakki Marwat.

According to officials, the policemen were on their way from Begu Khel village to report for duty when assailants targeted them. Both officers died on the spot.

Police have launched a search operation in the area to trace the attackers, while security has been tightened to prevent further incidents.

Authorities said investigations are underway, and the culprits will be brought to justice.

A police spokesman said that the attackers fled, after which their bodies were shifted to City Hospital.

Earlier,  The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh, in a joint operation with federal intelligence agency,  has arrested five terrorists linked to banned outfits Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

According to CTD officials, the operations were carried out in Manghopir and Kashmir Road areas of Karachi, successfully thwarting a major terrorist plan in the city.

The arrested suspects include: Allah Noor (TTP), Sarfaraz (TTP), Saleem (AQIS), Jehanzeb (AQIS) and Imdadullah (AQIS).

CTD spokesperson said the militants were affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij and AQIS networks. They had received military training in a neighboring country and were planning large-scale attacks in Karachi.
