Sindh: After Punjab, the flood situation has begun to intensify in Sindh, with high-level flooding reported at Guddu Barrage due to an increase in the inflow of water in the Indus River.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division Lahore, the water flow at Guddu Barrage has surged to 537,000 cusecs. The division further reported that inflows at Sukkur and Kotri barrages have also risen. At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow was recorded at 460,000 cusecs, while Kotri Barrage is currently facing a low-level flood.
The flood situation has intensified further as water inflows in the Indus River at Kot Mithan and Chachran Sharif have increased, raising the water level to 11.4 feet.
According to reports, the flood surge from Head Panjnad has merged into the Indus River at Kot Mithan, causing high-level flooding in the riverine (katcha) areas.
Meanwhile, the flow in the Chenab River at Head Panjnad has started to recede, dropping by around 30,000 cusecs to 633,000 cusecs.
Despite this reduction, an extremely high-level flood persists, forcing residents of low-lying areas in Tehsil Alipur, including Mullan Wali, to evacuate.
At Head Sulaimanki and Head Islam on the Sutlej River, low- and medium-level flooding continues.
However, at Ganda Singh Wala, the situation has improved, with the water flow reduced by 78,000 cusecs, bringing it down to a low-level flood.
In the Ravi River, water levels at Head Sidhnai have also begun to decline, though a medium-level flood remains.
