Karachi: Actor Shamon Abbasi has strongly reacted to actress Humaira Asghar's mother's statement calling Karachi "insensitive" following her daughter's passing.
In a video message, actor Shamon Abbasi expressed his dismay over the statements made by Humaira Asghar's parents regarding her death.
He highlighted that during an interview, Humaira Asghar's mother made an inappropriate remark, stating that the people of Karachi are "very insensitive," and that "Karachi city is very insensitive and heartless, and due to this insensitivity, Humaira had to endure a lot." Abbasi expressed his sorrow upon hearing this statement.
The veteran actor questioned, "Where were all of you for nine months? This is the same daughter who asked for your help, and you refused to provide it. This is the same daughter whose father refused to accept her body, but after it went viral on social media, you changed your statement."
Shamon Abbasi further stated, "Could you not even send a cousin or a young man to Karachi with a few thousand rupees to find out about Humaira, despite not having contact with her for nine months? Instead, you easily shrugged off your responsibilities and blamed a city, saying that Karachi city is very heartless. Proximity to Humaira was your responsibility; it was not the responsibility of any city or its people."
He added, "It wasn't that we had forgotten Humaira; we had decided on her burial after your refusal. We even visited the morgue. Close relatives have closer ties." Shamon Abbasi concluded by saying, "Humaira's death has taught us a lesson to keep an eye on your loved ones, stay in touch with them, and keep checking on their well-being."
