KARACHI: The first monsoon rain brought relief from the heat but also claimed seven lives in a series of unfortunate incidents.
According to rescue officials, the fatalities occurred due to traffic accidents, electrocution, a wall collapse, and drowning in a stream.
Rescue sources reported that a motorcyclist was died at Super Highway after being hit by an unidentified vehicle.
In Landhi’s Sherpao Colony, a K-Electric vehicle rammed into people sitting at a hotel, killing one person and injuring another.
Near National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), a speeding Suzuki lost control and crashed into a pillar, resulting in the immediate death of one individual.
Meanwhile, a 22 -year -old man working in a company in the site area Labor Square, Kamran, died of electrocution, while 21 -year -old Ahmed also died Surjani Town due to electric shock.
According to rescue officials, one person was killed when a wall collapsed Lyari while a man was drowned in a river near Lyari Expressway Toll Plaza, who was traveling from Gulshan -e -Iqbal to Sohrab Goth.
Rescue officials say monsoon rains are likely to increase accidents, so citizens take precautions.
Earlier, Heavy rainfall has started in various parts of Karachi. Areas including Kathore, Gadap, and nearby localities are receiving showers, while areas like Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Malir, Safora, Model Colony, and Saadi Town are also experiencing intense rainfall.
Rain has also been reported in Defence, Scheme 33, North Nazimabad, Shahrah-e-Faisal, and Tariq Road with thunder and lightning.
According to the Meteorological Department, Karachi is under the influence of a monsoon system, and rain is forecasted from Friday through Sunday.
