PDMA Punjab issues fresh rain alert across province

LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a fresh weather alert, warning of more rainfall across the province in the next 24 hours.

According to PDMA officials, heavy downpours are expected in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Sialkot. Authorities have expressed concern over the risk of urban flooding in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala due to the anticipated rains.

The PDMA further stated that the ongoing monsoon spell is likely to continue until July 31.

Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has warned of a potential rise in water levels in major rivers, including the Chenab, Jhelum, and Ravi, as well as their adjoining streams.

According to the DG PDMA, an increase in water flow is also expected at the Ganda Singh point in the Sutlej River.

Meanwhile, a low-level flood has been reported in Narowal’s Nullah, prompting authorities to remain on high alert.
