KARACHI: The weather in Karachi is expected to remain partly cloudy, hot, and humid throughout the day, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met Office reported that the skies are currently partly cloudy, and there is a chance of light drizzle during the early morning and evening hours.
The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 29.5°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach up to 35°C. Humidity levels are likely to remain high, contributing to the overall discomfort in the coastal metropolis.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a new spell of monsoon winds is expected to enter Sindh, including Karachi, from July 16. Under this system, the city is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the coming days.
The forecast brings hope for some respite from the heat, as Karachi continues to endure hot and humid conditions with partly cloudy skies and temperatures ranging between 29.5°C and 35°C.
On the other hand, Several areas of Lahore received rainfall, prompting the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to go on high alert following special directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
In response to the weather conditions, WASA Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shehbaz Ahmed, DG WASA Punjab Tayyab Fareed, and MD WASA Ghufran Ahmed instructed all field teams to remain fully active and vigilant.
MD WASA emphasized that in areas experiencing power outages, disposal stations must be operated using generators to ensure uninterrupted drainage. He also directed all town directors to maintain close monitoring of their respective zones.
Vice Chairman WASA further instructed that all pumps at disposal stations be kept operational and that screens be regularly cleaned to prevent blockages.
The proactive measures aim to minimize urban flooding and ensure efficient drainage operations across the city during the ongoing monsoon spell.
