ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory for the period between June 13 and June 18, forecasting varying weather conditions across the country.
According to the advisory: Punjab is expected to experience a rise in temperatures, particularly in most parts of the province from June 14 to 16.
However, rainfall is likely in upper regions, including the Potohar region, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most areas will also remain hot with increasing heat intensity. Additionally, dust storms and thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in several districts, including: Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, and Waziristan.
In Sindh and Balochistan, the weather is expected to remain extremely hot throughout the advisory period.
Authorities and the public are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of extreme heat and potential storm activity.
In light of the increasing heatwave conditions, the public is strongly advised to take the following precautions:
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and refreshing beverages. Remain in shaded or cool areas, especially during peak heat hours. Pay special attention to the health and well-being of children, the elderly, and individuals with medical conditions. Do not leave young children or pets unattended inside parked vehicles under any circumstances. Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during extreme sunlight hours.
If going outside is absolutely necessary, take proper sun protection measures, such as wearing light clothing, using umbrellas or hats, and applying sunscreen.
