KARACHI: Narendra Modi led Indian government has imposed ban on eight Pakistani news channels including ‘Bol News’.
Indian government has imposed ban 16 Pakistani YouTube channels in India include Pakistan's largest news channel Bol News channel.
Modi government has also imposed ban on Dawn News, Geo News, Samaa TV, ARY News, Raftaar, Snow News while Journalists' Youtube channels including Asma Shirazi, Irshad Bhatti, Umar Cheema, Muneeb Farooq, Pakistan Reference, Samaa Sports, Uzair Cricket and Razi Naama.
Bol News has exposed India's falls flag operation in Pahalgam, after which the Modi government has accused the channel is spreading misleading information against the state institutions.
India alleged that Pakistani news channels are broadcasting provocative and sensitive materials.
This action comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, where 26 tourists and a local Kashmiri were killed in cold blood.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while condemning the unfortunate attack in Pahalgam, has offered to participate in any neutral, transparent and credible investigation into the incident.
Pakistan has castigated India for exploiting the Pahalgam attack, which claimed lives of 26 tourists, to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty for domestic political gains, warning that New Delhi is attempting to "unleash a hydro war" without any evidence or investigation.
New Delhi has linked Islamabad to the attack without offering any evidence and took a flurry of punitive measures to downgrade ties including suspending Indus Waters Treaty, revoking visas of Pakistanis, closing Wagah-Attari border crossing among others.
Pakistan has responded in kind to India’s measures and warned of suspending Simla Agreement. Islamabad has denied involvement in the attack and offered to take part in a credible and transparent investigation.
The banned channels had a combined subscriber base of 63 million.
