KARACHI: The Several areas of Karachi received light rainfall early Monday morning, with showers reported in Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.

The drizzle was also recorded in Defence, Qayyumabad, Korangi Road, Burns Road, and M.A. Jinnah Road.

Other localities, including University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Baloch Colony, and adjoining areas, also witnessed light showers. The downpour led to water accumulation in low-lying areas of the city.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thunderstorms and heavy rainfall over the next two days. Authorities have warned that prolonged downpours may inundate low-lying parts of Karachi, raising concerns of urban flooding.

The ongoing monsoon spell continues to lash several parts of Sindh with heavy rainfall including Hyderabad, Sujawal, Thatta, Sukkur, Ubauro, Daharki, Mirpur Mathelo, and Naushahro Feroze.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), heavy rains are expected to persist for the next two days. The Met Office forecast warned of torrential downpours in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, and Shaheed Benazirabad districts until September 10.

Authorities cautioned that the continued spell could disrupt daily life and trigger urban flooding in vulnerable areas.

On the other hand, more rains are expected in several cities of Punjab including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujarat during the next 24 hours. Heavy rains are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan. PDMA has expressed concern over urban flooding in major cities.
