LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to close the markets at 8 pm to prevent smog and launched crackdown against smoke emitting vehicles.
A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the petitions against not taking effective measures to remedy the smog.
The Lahore High Court also ordered all private offices to work from home for 2 days and ordered markets to close at 8 pm.
The court also ordered complete closure of the markets on Sunday and directed to crackdown on smog-emitting vehicles.
The Lahore High Court directed the traffic police to immediately stop the smoke emitting vehicles and said that the dolphin police should also take action together with the traffic police.

Earlier, Punjab government has introduced a work-from-home policy for office employees in regions heavily affected by smog, aiming to mitigate the severe air pollution impacting millions.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the provincial government announced this remote work policy for public and private offices in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan.
Offices are instructed to operate with only 50 percent of staff on-site to minimize exposure to the hazardous air and reduce transportation, a major contributor to pollution.
Previously, the government ordered school closures in smog-affected districts and mandated mask-wearing.
