Joni Lamb passes away at 65 after private health battle

Reports say recent back injury worsened her medical complications.

Joni Lamb the longtime president and co-founder of Daystar Television Network has passed away at the age of 65, leaving the global Christian broadcasting community in deep sorrow.

The network confirmed her death on May 7, 2026, stating that she had been privately dealing with ongoing and serious health challenges for some time. According to the official statement her condition worsened in the final days following complications linked to a recent back injury.

Daystar explained that Joni had been facing multiple medical issues which were further intensified by the injury ultimately leading to a critical decline in her health. Despite continuous medical care and prayers from supporters around the world, her condition continued to deteriorate.

The ministry noted that although the exact medical cause of death has not been publicly disclosed in full detail the back injury significantly contributed to the complications that led to her passing. It was also highlighted that she chose to keep her health struggles private and faced her illness with strength and faith.

In its official tribute Daystar said Joni Lamb’s life was deeply rooted in her devotion to Christianity and her commitment to spreading faith-based values. The network credited her for helping build Daystar into one of the world’s largest Christian television ministries, reaching millions of viewers globally.

Her passing was described by the ministry as a moment of spiritual transition stating that she has “gone home to be with the Lord.” The statement also emphasized her lifelong dedication to faith, family, and ministry work, which left a lasting impact on audiences and followers worldwide.

Joni Lamb is survived by her husband, Doug Weiss whom she married in 2023 along with her three children Jonathan Lamb, Rachel Lamb Brown, and Rebecca Lamb Weiss. She was previously married to Marcus Lamb, co-founder of Daystar, who passed away in 2021 due to COVID-19-related complications.

Following Marcus Lamb’s death, her children became actively involved in the network’s operations, continuing the family’s leadership role within the ministry and maintaining its global outreach.

The family has requested privacy during this difficult time while also asking supporters to keep them in their prayers as they mourn her loss.

Joni Lamb began her career in Christian broadcasting in the 1980s gradually building her presence in religious media before co-founding Daystar in 1993 alongside her late husband. What began as a small Christian station eventually expanded into a global network broadcasting through cable, satellite, streaming, and digital platforms.

She became widely recognized as a television host through programs such as Joni Table Talk, where she interviewed pastors, faith leaders, and public figures, focusing on themes of spirituality, healing, and personal transformation.

Over the years, she earned recognition within faith-based media circles and played a key role in shaping Christian television programming. Her work contributed significantly to making Daystar one of the most influential religious networks in the world.

Reports also indicate that she had been involved in discussions regarding succession planning with the network’s leadership to ensure continuity of Daystar’s mission and operations in the future.

With her passing, the Christian media world marks the end of a significant era, as tributes continue to pour in celebrating her legacy of faith, leadership, and dedication to religious broadcasting.
