According to the latest report from the Meteorological Department, a change in weather conditions is anticipated as weak westerly winds are projected to enter the western regions of the country on June 18, following the Eid festivities.
From June 18 to 22, many districts across the province are likely to experience gusty winds and thundershowers, providing a welcome respite from the scorching heat.
In South Punjab, including areas such as Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur, rainfall is expected from June 20 to 22.
Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), has instructed the district administration to stay vigilant in light of the forecasted weather changes.
The PMD has also forecasted two episodes of rainfall nationwide in late June, hinting at an early onset of the monsoon season. This early arrival is anticipated to bring relief from the intense heatwave, offering respite to millions of Pakistanis celebrating Eidul-Azha.

The PDMA has highlighted areas such as Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali as potential locations for wind and rain, with Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, and Jhang also likely to experience rain and storms.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat during the Eid holidays. Authorities are urged to prepare for potential challenges, such as urban flooding, especially in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, where drainage systems may be overwhelmed by sudden downpours.
