KARACHI: The provincial health authorities on Saturday confirmed the year’s first death caused by dengue virus, and victim was resident of District East.
The Sindh Health Department confirms the first dengue-related death reported in Sindh this year.
A 48-year-old female resident of District East, Karachi, passed away yesterday while under treatment at a private hospital.
The patient was admitted on July 23, 2025, and tested positive for dengue the same day.
She also had underlying health conditions, including diabetes and a urinary tract infection (UTI), which contributed to complications in her case.
Earlier,The series of new Congo Fever cases continues to rise in the city, causing fear and panic among residents.
According to officials at Jinnah Hospital, a 33-year-old patient was admitted with symptoms including fever and bleeding from the gums and nose. A PCR test confirmed the patient was positive for the Congo Virus.
The patient has been immediately transferred to the hospital’s isolation ward. It is reported that the affected individual is a resident of Bhains Colony and works as a hairdresser.
A spokesperson from the health department stated that since Eid al-Adha, two people in Karachi have succumbed to Congo Fever, increasing concerns about the potential spread of the outbreak.
