Did One Direction do discrimination with Zayn Malik? New Lyrics reveals shocking details

Zayn Malik, former One Direction member, has shared the lyrics of his upcoming track "Fuchsia Sea."
Malik also hinted at his Asian heritage.
X users have praised Malik's boldness and artistry.

Zayn Malik left the boy band One Direction on March 25, 2015. Since then, fans have continued to question what led him to walk away. Now, it seems the star is finally ready to open up. In a new snippet from his upcoming track “Fuschia Sea”, Zayn shared the full lyrics with his 53.4 million Instagram followers.

One particular lyric—"'Cause I worked hard in a white band and they still laughed at the Asian"—is drawing major attention for its implications. Fans are reacting strongly to the singer’s direct reference to being in a "white band," especially since he hasn’t been part of any other group since One Direction. His mention of being laughed at for being Asian is sparking widespread discussion and speculation online.

Malik reflected on how his departure left a lasting impact on the group’s legacy while also hinting at his Asian heritage. He sang, "Left a blue mark on a white flag. Then used blood for the painting. If my grandad could go back, lad, there's a fat chance of a backhand," suggesting deep emotional and cultural undertones tied to his exit.

Zayn Malik’s latest update has stunned One Direction fans, revealing a new side to the apparent tensions between him and Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles, who continued managing the group's massive fame after his exit. As One Direction rose to global stardom, cracks within the team became increasingly visible, but few expected Malik to walk away from the band.

The lyrics clearly revealed that Zayn Malik was singing about his own life, touching on his relationship with Gigi Hadid and the birth of their daughter, Khai. He reflected on feeling ashamed of those around him and spoke openly about the uncertainty he faced after leaving One Direction, describing himself as an outsider. He implied that, for the creators of the group, it all felt like a game—one that the other members eventually followed.

"Just a young man with his own kid and a wife now, in a new land. I know he dreamed hard, 'cause they're my dreams, and I grabbed hard with these two hands. As one flame can be turned to another, I never felt shame like Mufasa, my brother. If it's all just a game or a class, then I shudder."
