Just a week after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled the case would proceed to trial, a new decision on November 25 has shifted the focus in Jolie’s favor.
Judge Lia Martin has reportedly ordered Pitt to “produce documents and communications” related to alleged domestic violence against Jolie and their children. Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, expressed relief over the ruling, stating, “The crucial evidence concerning abuse, lies to authorities, and years of cover-up will now be a central focus on the Chateau Miraval case moving forward.” He accused Pitt of compelling Jolie to sign a nondisclosure agreement to silence her claims of abuse in exchange for selling her winery shares.
While Jolie had previously dropped her lawsuit against the Department of Justice and the FBI regarding the 2016 plane incident, her lawyer reiterated that “Brad’s actions (that) harmed Angelina and their children” remain relevant to the ongoing dispute. Murphy emphasized, “Mr. Pitt should focus on healing their family, not pursuing lawsuits,” adding that Jolie “never wanted any of this.”
A source close to Pitt downplayed the ruling, calling it “mostly irrelevant” and stating that the actor has “provided so much information already.” However, with Jolie determined to “defend herself in court,” this legal battle seems far from over.
