Sindh is preparing for a rise in temperatures as a heatwave is expected to grip the region for the next few days. Today, temperatures are forecasted to soar 4 to 6°C above the usual.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) indicates that most parts of Pakistan are currently experiencing continental air dominance.
This atmospheric high pressure system is causing heatwave-like conditions, especially in Punjab and Sindh. The heatwave is anticipated to intensify starting from May 23 and persist until May 27.
Cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, and other parts of Sindh are likely to be affected by the heatwave from Wednesday onwards. The heatwave's severity is forecasted to increase on Thursday and continue throughout the week.
Karachi is expected to see temperatures ranging between 36-38°C on Wednesday, climbing to 37-39°C on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hyderabad may experience maximum temperatures of 42-44°C on Wednesday, potentially reaching 43-45°C on Thursday.
Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather has prevailed in Karachi, Hyderabad, and most areas of the province. Mohenjo-Daro recorded the highest temperature in the province, peaking at 49°C. The evening's relative humidity stood at 41%.
In Karachi, the maximum temperature reached 36°C, with an evening relative humidity of 76%. Conversely, Hyderabad saw a maximum temperature of 42°C, with an evening relative humidity of 57%.
