Good news for inflation-weary consumers: the prices of ghee and cooking oil have decreased further. According to the dealers association, the prices of A brand and B brand oil and ghee have dropped by Rs 70 to 75 over the past month.
A brand oil has become cheaper by Rs 75 per liter, now costing Rs 525, while A brand ghee has reduced by Rs 25, also priced at Rs 525. Similarly, B brand ghee and oil are now selling at Rs 380 per liter after a Rs 70 decrease.
On another positive note, rice exports from Pakistan have seen a significant increase.
According to data from the State Bank, the export of rice from July to March 2024 reached $2.690 billion, marking a 76.57% increase compared to the same period in the previous financial year. Last year, rice exports earned $1.522 billion in the same timeframe.
In March alone, the export volume was $355.44 million, compared to $374.23 million in February and $200.84 million in March of the previous year. In the financial year 2023, Pakistan earned $2.10 billion from rice exports.
The first nine months of the current financial year saw basmati rice exports valued at $631.33 million, a 45% increase from $435.53 million in the same period last year.
Non-basmati rice exports also surged, reaching $2.058 billion, an 89.37% increase from the previous year's $1.087 billion.
These trends indicate positive developments in both consumer prices for essential goods and the country's export performance.
