Authorities in Abu Dhabi have introduced stringent new guidelines for licensed economic establishments regarding their interactions with social media influencers. The Department of Economic Development (ADDED) now mandates that influencers must obtain a specific license from ADDED before promoting any services online.
According to the guidelines, influencers are required to pay a license fee of 5000 dirhams, while establishments engaging influencers must pay 1250 dirhams for their license. These measures are aimed at enhancing oversight and accountability in the rapidly growing influencer marketing sector within the emirate.
Effective from July 1, severe penalties up to 10,000 dirhams will be imposed on influencers operating without the necessary license, underscoring the government's commitment to ensuring regulatory compliance.
The initiative seeks to ensure that influencers involved in marketing activities uphold legal standards and maintain transparency and honesty with their audience.
