Huawei has officially started shipping its revolutionary tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT Ultimate, to customers in China. For those outside of China, there’s exciting news, as the device is expected to have a global launch in the first quarter of 2025.
In China, the Mate XT Ultimate is priced at a premium starting at $2,800, making it one of the most expensive consumer electronics. However, international pricing is anticipated to be even higher, possibly exceeding $3,000 or €3,000 due to typical price adjustments between markets.
While the price might seem steep, it reflects the cutting-edge technology involved. The Mate XT Ultimate is a first-generation tri-fold smartphone, a category that commands a premium for innovation. Tech experts have praised Huawei for its hardware achievements in this groundbreaking device.
However, even with a global release, the Mate XT Ultimate will face the same software restrictions as other Huawei phones. It will not feature Google apps or services and will run on Huawei’s HarmonyOS, built on AOSP (Android Open Source Project).
