The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts more intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday night and over the next 2-3 days.
Moderate monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are currently affecting the upper and eastern parts of Pakistan and are expected to spread to the central and southern regions from July 29.
Due to these conditions, more monsoon rains and gusty winds, with isolated heavy falls, are expected in Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Gujrat, Khushab, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, and Faisalabad on Sunday night. Rain, wind, and thunderstorms may also occur in Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal during this time.
On Monday and Tuesday, additional monsoon rains and gusty winds are anticipated in Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Gujrat, Khushab, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. Heavy rainfall may occur in some northeastern and southern districts during this period.
Lahore's maximum temperature is expected to range between 37-39°C on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, rain, wind, and thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred in Lahore and upper/central Punjab over the last 24 hours. Elsewhere in the province, hot and humid weather prevailed.
Rainfall (mm): Sialkot recorded 136 mm of rain at the airport and 15 mm in the city. In Islamabad, Saidpur received 84 mm, Golra 61 mm, Zeropoint 39 mm, the airport 34 mm, and Bokra 33 mm. Lahore saw 55 mm in the city and 18 mm at the airport. Gujrat recorded 52 mm, Mandi Bahauddin 36 mm, Rawalpindi's Kachahri 32 mm, Chaklala 28 mm, and Shamsabad 3 mm. Gujranwala had 11 mm, Mangla 8 mm, Jhelum and Hafizabad each recorded 3 mm, while Murree and Attock had 2 mm.
Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan were the hottest places in the province, with a maximum temperature of 42°C. Bahawalpur recorded 41°C, and Sahiwal 40°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature reached 35°C, with evening relative humidity at 82%.
