The Additional District and Sessions Court in Multan has announced its verdict in the Sania Zehra murder case, sentencing her husband to death and giving life imprisonment to two of his family members.
According to reports, Ali Raza Sania’s husband has been awarded the death penalty for her murder. The court also sentenced his mother, Azra Parveen, and his brother, Ali Haider, to life in prison and fined them Rs 500,000 each. Three other people accused in the case were declared not guilty.

Sania Zehra was found hanging in her bedroom on July 9, 2024. At first, the incident was treated as a suicide, and she was buried without a post-mortem examination. However, her father, Asad Abbas, accused Ali Raza and his family of killing her, which brought the case into the spotlight and raised questions about how the investigation was handled.
After her burial, authorities obtained court permission to exhume her body. Samples were taken and sent to the Forensic Laboratory in Lahore. The initial forensic report found no signs of physical injury, assault, or fractures. It confirmed that the cause of death was hanging, with no marks of violence on her body.
Police had initially nominated six people in the case, but after further investigation, only three were found guilty. The court’s decision marks an important moment in a case that sparked public discussion and media attention.
Sania’s family shared mixed feelings after the verdict. Some felt relieved that justice had been served, while others stressed the need for careful and thorough investigations in cases as sensitive as this one.
