Rain Brings Relief to Lahore and Punjab Cities Amid Sweltering Heat

Provincial capital Lahore witnessed a downpour on Saturday as several areas of the city received showers, but only for brief period.

Several areas including Gulberg, Mall Road, Muslim Town, Iqbal Town and several other localities received spells of first monsoon rain. Showeres accompanied by strong wind turned weather pleasant in metropolis, as the mercury dropped, the masses breathed a sigh of relief.

Humidity however increases after rain while several areas faced power breakdowns due to grid failure.

Lahore Weather Update

A shallow westerly wave is currently affecting northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and adjacent hilly areas. The Meteorological Office has forecast hot and humid weather across most districts of the province. Rain and windstorms are expected at isolated locations including Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sahiwal, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalnagar.

On Sunday, the province will experience mainly hot and humid weather, with the possibility of rain, windstorms, and thundershowers at isolated spots in Murree, Galliyat, Gujranwala, Narowal, and Sialkot.

The Meteorological Department has predicted hot and humid conditions for most parts of Pakistan, with monsoon rains beginning in Sindh, particularly Karachi, and spreading to other areas.

As monsoon winds advance, heavy rainfall is expected within the next 24 hours, which may lead to flooding in rivers, canals, and urban areas, particularly in northeastern and southeastern regions. Above-average rainfall is anticipated in July and August, raising concerns about widespread flooding.

Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. The expected rains are expected to bring relief from the prevailing heat and humidity.
