LAHORE: Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, announced on Monday the launch of Pakistan’s National Youth Employment Policy (NYEP), which aims to create strong job opportunities for young people both at home and abroad.
Speaking at Aiwan-e-Iqbal in Lahore, he said the policy includes a wide range of initiatives such as overseas employment for up to 1.8 million Pakistani youth, the setting up of employment exchanges in every district, support for new business registrations, and the launch of green jobs.
Rana Mashhood shared that several countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Türkiye, and Belarus, have already offered jobs for skilled Pakistani workers.
He emphasized that the policy is inclusive and covers all segments of youth—whether in schools, colleges, universities, or out of education. “Every young Pakistani deserves a chance to live with dignity,” he said, adding that women will remain a key part of employment programmes through 2029.
A committee on technical education and IT, headed by the Prime Minister, will meet every two months to review progress and expand opportunities. Training in languages and professional skills will also be provided to prepare youth for the international job market.
The policy also encourages entrepreneurship, with ten new businesses to be registered for innovation and growth. Young people engaged in negative activities will be rehabilitated and guided toward constructive roles, especially through initiatives like green jobs.
Employment exchanges will help job seekers through online platforms and doorstep services, making opportunities more accessible nationwide.
