Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan had always desired peace in South Asia but would never accept any violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
While speaking with the Ambassador of Turkiye, Irfan Neziroglu, the prime minister said Pakistan had agreed to the ceasefire understanding with India in the spirit of promoting peace.
He expressed deep gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for strongly supporting Pakistan during the recent tensions in South Asia. The prime minister noted that President Erdogan once again showed his love and care for the people of Pakistan through his unwavering support.
He also thanked the people of Turkiye for standing with Pakistan during these difficult times, calling it a proud moment that further strengthened the strong bond between the two nations.
The prime minister praised the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces for successfully defeating the enemy’s plans during “Operation Bunyan un Marsoos,” calling it a historic victory for which the whole nation was grateful.
He said that relations between Pakistan and Turkiye had been growing rapidly since President Erdogan’s important visit to Islamabad in February. Referring to his own visit to Ankara in April, the prime minister emphasized the need to implement all major decisions made during high-level meetings between the two countries.
He suggested that the joint commission of foreign ministers from both nations should meet soon to move forward.
The Turkish ambassador congratulated the prime minister and the people of Pakistan on their military and diplomatic success. He said the people of Turkiye were happy about Pakistan’s achievements and appreciated its efforts for peace in South Asia.
He said President Erdogan was keen to further strengthen the strong fraternal ties between the two countries in every sphere and high level institutional engagements would continue in this regard.
