ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, visited the Bantian headquarters of Huawei Technologies in Shenzhen, Longgang district, on Friday. During her visit, Huawei officials warmly welcomed her.
Maryam Nawaz engaged in discussions with Huawei’s Government Affairs Director, Wang Chengdong, regarding several initiatives aimed at transforming Lahore into a modern digital city. The conversation covered various topics, including e-commerce, ecosystem development, and ICT infrastructure, as well as the digitalization of the health and education sectors in Punjab.
Huawei President Wang Chengdong briefed the Chief Minister about the company’s ongoing projects in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab.
She expressed a keen interest in Huawei’s work in the health and education sectors and discussed the Safe City projects underway in various cities of Punjab. Maryam Nawaz emphasized her commitment to making Lahore Pakistan’s first smart city with Huawei’s support.
The Chief Minister invited Huawei to further invest in Punjab, proposing the establishment of a Huawei office in the Nawaz Sharif IT City and offering full cooperation. She assured Huawei that an after-sales service center would also be set up across Punjab.
“We want to benefit from Huawei’s expertise in telecommunication and digitalization,” said Maryam Nawaz, highlighting that Punjab's first AI university would benefit from Huawei’s professional skills.
She further stated that Huawei’s assistance in capacity building and IT research would play a vital role in Punjab’s technological advancements, particularly in youth education on cutting-edge digital technologies.
Maryam Nawaz also noted that the first Safe City project in Lahore had been a successful collaboration with Huawei. She visited the various sections of Huawei Technologies, expressing her hope that Huawei’s continued partnership would help Punjab achieve its goal of a digital future.
