Karachi traffic police release roadmap for Independence Day event at National Stadium

KARACHI:  The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a special advisory for motorists ahead of the Independence Day and “Marka-e-Haq” celebrations at the National Bank Stadium tonight.

The traffic police expect congestion to begin as early as 5:00 pm on all roads leading to the stadium and continue until 2:00 am, as the event starts at 6:00 pm. They advise citizens to avoid unnecessary travel between Civic Centre and the stadium during this time.

This year’s Independence Day theme, Marka-e-Haq, marks the nation’s resilience and pride after the April–May confrontation with India, which ended with a ceasefire on May 10.

Parking & Entry:

  • Vehicles with parking stickers can enter the stadium via Gate 1 and Gate 11.
  • Parking is available at Expo Centre (Gate 1) for visitors from District Central, with shuttle buses to the stadium.
  • Visitors from District South, District East, and Malir can park at China Ground via Karsaz, New Town, and Rashid Minhas Road.

Alternate Routes:

  • Towards Sharea Faisal: Use University Road and Shaheed-e-Millat Road instead of Liaquatabad/Hassan Square.
  • Towards Liaquatabad from Karsaz: Take Rashid Minhas Road and Nipa.
  • From Expo Centre turn: Use Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
  • Residents of East, Malir, South, and West can use Lyari Expressway from Mirza Adam Khan Chowk to Sohrab Goth.

Heavy Vehicle Restrictions:

Heavy traffic will not be allowed from Sohrab Goth to Nipa, Liaquatabad No. 10 to Hassan Square, and PP Chowrangi to University Road.
