The Chairman of the Intermediate Board in Karachi has declared a delay in the commencement of intermediate exams. Originally scheduled for May 28, they will now start on June 1 due to recent high temperatures.
This alteration is prompted by logistical hurdles and a clash with rescheduled matriculation exams. In an official announcement, the chairman clarified that the board has formally asked for a four-day extension of the exam dates.
This request has been passed on to the Minister of Education Boards and Universities for consideration and approval.
“Given the circumstances, it is not feasible to conduct the intermediate exams from May 28,” stated the chairman. “We have sought permission to delay the exams to June 1 to ensure smooth conduct and avoid overlapping with the matriculation exams.”
The chairman explained that there were logistical problems because 21 higher secondary schools were chosen as centers for both entrance and matriculation exams. Initially, entrance exams were scheduled for the morning and matriculation exams for the evening at these centers.
The Karachi heat wave caused the matriculation exams to be postponed and rescheduled for May 28. This created a problem because both sets of exams couldn't be held together due to venue constraints.
“Conducting exams for both boards at the same time in these 21 centers is impractical,” the chairman emphasized. “The heat has already disrupted the matriculation schedule, necessitating this adjustment for intermediate exams.”
The Education Minister has called a meeting today to solve the problem and confirm the new schedule. The Chairman of the Matriculation Board will also be there to coordinate and ensure smooth exams.
