ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman responded to the federal government’s decision to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In his statement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that using force against political parties is not a solution to the issues at hand. “The use of force will only increase political instability,” he remarked.
The JUI-F chief suggested that if all institutions operated within their constitutional limits, Pakistan could be steered back on track. He emphasized that it would be beneficial for the country if ‘powerful elements’ recognized these limits. He further noted that the current ‘hybrid system’ has failed to yield positive results and that holding fresh, transparent elections is the only solution to the existing problems.
Earlier, Information Minister Atta Tarar mentioned that there is credible evidence supporting a ban on PTI. He cited the party’s involvement in foreign funding, the May 9 incident, its role in the resettlement of terrorists in Pakistan, the cipher episode, and the resolution passed in the United States.
In a press conference, Atta Tarar stated that Article 17 of the constitution empowers the federal government to ban a political party. He added that a reference under Article 6 would also be filed against former President Arif Alvi, former Prime Minister Imran Khan,
Earlier, the Spokesperson for the JUI-F Aslam Ghauri said that this farce of the government aimed to divert the attention of general public from real issues particularly intolerable rising inflation.
He added that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has opposed the government’s announcement to impose ban on PTI and termed the decision inapt.
He further said that ban on any political party is not solution to any problem but such decision expressed the government's doctorial approach.
He accused the government and its ministries of solving the issues of public and imposing heavy taxes, making the masses' life miserable.
The spokesperson maintained that political problems are resolved in political field, not by power.
