ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed after multiple arrests and re-arrests.
The IHC bench, led by Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzaib, also prohibited the police from arresting her in any other case until Thursday.
Sanam Javed, who had been detained in several cases related to the events of May 9, was brought before the IHC and permitted to return home.
The court requested a comprehensive record of all cases against her, directing the police to submit the records for the past year. Additionally, the court instructed Sanam Javed not to leave Islamabad until Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Islamabad police handed over the PTI activist to Balochistan police in connection with the May 9 vandalism case.
She was presented before the G-11 district court, where the judge granted her transit remand, transferring her to the Balochistan police.
Notably, Sanam Javed was arrested again on May 9, days after securing bail in other cases.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had taken her into custody from a prison in Gujranwala after its Cyber Crime Cell filed a case against her.
According to the FIA Cyber Crime Cell, she had posted ‘inciting’ remarks on May 9, urging people to come out and ‘attack’ the Jinnah House.
